The popular GeForce GTX 560 Ti video card has revived the long -forgotten Titanium brand. Then we wondered that this is: the desire to emphasize the steepness of the board or a hint of the appearance of a weaker version of the video card. It turned out – the second, and today we have the most ordinary GEFORCE GTX 560 in our laboratory, without an impurity of titanium.
We study
The recipe for making a new video card is unpretentious: engineers simply cut down the capabilities of the GTX 560 Ti Graphic Chip GF114 , Disableing one of eight SM blocks and reducing the operating frequency from 822 MHz to 810 MHz. Thus, the GeForce GTX 560 contains 336 stream processors, 56 textures and 32 ROP units. The memory was not touched-the gigabyte set of GDDR5 chips is still used here, operating at a frequency of 4004 MHz and associated with the GPU 256-bit tire.
The catch is that a similar video card NVIDIA Already released – in GeForce GTX 460 A double -heating graphic chip with one SM disconnected is also used. In terms of characteristics, GTX 460 and GTX 560 are practically identical – only working frequencies differ. The design of the video cards themselves also coincides. So, in front of us is the next renamed product from Nvidia? Not really. The GF104 chip, which is the basis of the board of the past generation, was renamed GF114 for a reason: engineers spent a lot of effort on internal optimization of the GPU, reducing the energy consumption and increasing the accelerated potential. In other words, overclocks will be able to squeeze more from the new video card than from GTX 460. In general, there is reason to believe that the GTX 560 is the overclocking king; This is the first video card on our memory, in the specifications of which the manufacturer indicates not accurate memory frequencies and processor, but a whole range (that is, not “2002 MHz”, but “2002-2200 MHz”).
The length of the reference board is 21 centimeters, for its cooling, a two -slot cooler with a fan is used in the center. Additional power is supplied through a pair of 6-pin sockets, although one would have enough for work at standard frequencies. Exit set is standard-DVI pair and one mini-hdmi. In general, everything is like a time -tested GeForce GTX 460.
We compare
We failed to find a reference version of the novelty – I had to use the video card Palit GeForce GTX 560 2 GB. Her frequencies are reference, but the volume of memory is not. However, in terms of performance, this model should be practically identical to the reference, since the second gigabyte of memory on the GTX 560 video card is no more than a marketing move, there is no real benefit from it.

We operate
Synthetics gave out quite expected results: the novelty is located exactly between the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 460. Unimportant indicators HD 6850 in test Unigine Heaven Benchmark 2.5 explained by a weak teslosel, however 3DMark Vantage This video card turned out to be tangibly weaker than GTX 560. The younger boards, especially the GTX 550 Ti, are seriously behind the newcomer in these tests.
IN Resident Evil 5 GTX 560 showed rather strange results (it performed weaker than all cards except GTX 550 Ti), but they can be attributed to the dampness of the drivers. In general, in the DX10-game, the card still turned out to be clamped between the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 460, but the HD 6850 was no longer woven behind-on the contrary, it gave out slightly better results than the GTX 560. The 550 Ti indicators were still not on top, but the Radeon HD 6790 looked worthy in these tests.
In the DX11-game, HD 6850 was again on the list of lagging ones, which is natural. The position of a beginner regarding other GeForce has not changed, but HD 6790 again turned out to be faster than the GTX 550 Ti – in this battle, everything decided to test F1 2010. However, to compete with the GTX 560 younger Radeon is still beyond the power.
Of course, the GeForce GTX 560 is a successful product, and in modern DX11 games it is faster than a competitor from the camp AMD. However, at first, while the new prices are overstated, it is wiser to take the good old GeForce GTX 460 and Radeon HD 6850. Of the tested video cards of a lower class, we can only recommend the Radeon HD 6790: the difference in cost in this case is proportional to the difference in performance.
